Heritage. Author: Galina Lugina, textile decorator

Галина Лугина_подрезка

This booth is a tribute to our recent textile history, pure vintage with the eyes of a decorator in 2021. It is dedicated to preserving heritage through education and enlightenment.

The basis of this area was the textile heritage - propaganda textile of the 1920s-1930s from the collection of the Ivanovo State Museum of Local History named after D.G. Burylin and exhibits from the Academy of Arts and Industry named after S.G. Strogonov.

The more educated a society is, the more it values its heritage, preserves, rethinks, and gives new life to obsolete things, crafts, and the way of life of our ancestors.

Modern design provides a unique opportunity to revive craft work and elevate craftsmanship to art, to create the unique individual items that are in demand in the design market today. Design using craftsmanship allows us to preserve traditions and give economic stability to craftsmen.

THE ROOM WAS DECORATED WITH:

  • Author's fabric by Galina Lugina, made by Spanish factory for private interiors - SG HOGAR, Design Bureau GL – Pav. 7, booth 7B122.
  • Handmade carpets with national Azerbaijani ornaments made of 100% sheep's wool - AZERXALCA, Pav. Forum, booth FC40.
  • Perfectly complements the modern interior and serves as a symbol of national heritage and weaving traditions.
  • Vintage wallpaper from different periods of the USSR.
  • Crocs - sketches of fabrics of the "RED ROSE" FABRIC from the archive of the Moscow State Academy of Art and Industry named after S. G. Stroganov.
  • LITTLE GREENE paints (113 French Grey, 118 Dark Lead) - MANDERS, Pav. 7, Booth 7B110.
  • From the Intelligent Matt Emulsion smart paint collection, a water-based matte, washable paint with a gloss level of only 5%. Safe for children, eco-friendly for nature.
  • Plinth sx 184 ORAC - MANDERS, Pav. 7, Booth 7B110.

SEVERAL TECHNIQUES WERE USED TO DECORATE THE BOOTH:

Direct use of vintage items for their intended purpose.

Wallpaper, chair, chess, clock.

Rethinking, reworking, restyling of vintage items.

Re-styling is what is done to an old carpet: updating, changing, rethinking the functions of the object, giving it new meanings. It is no longer a carpet, but a fabric for an art object.

Hommage (from French — gratitude, tribute) - a work of imitation and a gesture of respect for another artist. The exclusive fabric, designed specifically for modern interiors and so successfully incorporated into the concept of the booth is a pure imitation of a crock from the book "100% Ivanovo", conceived by Galina Lugina and hand-drawn by the artist Sonya Eliseeva.

Historical layering is what characterizes top interiors around the world. The emphasis is on Soviet heritage. Vintage wallpaper from different periods of the USSR, newspapers and the most popular paint colors of our days, this is what gives a sense of the depth of the time layers in which we now live.

Matching and kneading new fashionable and vintage interior items.

Floor lamp, coffee tables, plaids, decorative items tell us that we live in the 21st century and take advantage of all the possibilities of modern design. The handmade carpet on the wall is a symbol of the preservation of cultural heritage and the return of fashion for carpets in the interior, as objects of art rather than a functional covering.
